Analisis Konflik Tokoh dalam Cerpen Pilihan Kompas 2024 sebagai Alternatif Materi Pembelajaran Sastra di SMA
Abstract
Conflict is a central intrinsic element that drives plot development, shapes characters, and represents human problems in short fiction. This study aims to describe the characteristics of conflict in Raja dan Batu Langit: Cerpen Pilihan Kompas 2024 using an operational framework synthesized from James Scott Bell's perspective, and to explain its relevance as a source of knowledge in senior high school literature learning. The study employed a descriptive qualitative design with a hermeneutic approach and qualitative content analysis. The data consisted of textual excerpts from all seventeen short stories in the anthology, including narration, dialogue, inner monologue, and descriptions of characters' actions. Data were collected through repeated reading and note-taking, then analyzed through categorization, contextual interpretation, comparison, and synthesis. The findings show that internal conflict dominates the conflict dimension with 110 of 184 occurrences. Psychological death is the dominant existential stake with 80 of 162 occurrences. Emotional pressure is the most frequent conflict activation mode with 61 of 146 occurrences, while plot conflict is the most prominent narrative structure with 49 of 163 occurrences. The conflicts also represent didactic content related to religious, moral, social, cultural, and humanitarian values. These findings indicate that the anthology is relevant for developing students' literary knowledge, critical interpretation, reflection, and appreciation in senior high school literature learning.
